Q and A with Peyton from the Bicycle Spot

1. Name, Age, Occupation.

Peyton Walters, 39, bike wrench

2. Were is your shop located?

5074 N. Dixie Highway Oakland Park, FL. 33334

3. Tell us about your shop. When did the doors open?
Formally it was Barry Bicycle. Then in 2002 Bicycle Spot opened.

4. What are you riding these days?
My 1980's Bridgestone T-100 for the last 6 months.

5. Your shop caters a lot to the fixed/gear singlespeed crowd. Tell us how you feel about this?
It's great to see the people that have been off bikes have gotten into the fixed gear riding.

6. In the last couple of years. This whole fixed gear/singlespeed thing as gotten huge. What is the one thing about this you cant stand seeing?

A free wheel hub with a BV lockring, it does not work.

7. Were does Payton ride? Tell us what or were your favorite place to ride are?

A1A for commuting to work and the Executive Airport with my kid and nephew.

8. Can you explain the odd bunch that is always at your shop? And the one guy that looks like Hulk Hogan?

Its a bike shop everyone is welcome including weirdos. That's Kenny AKA Crazy Kenny. He's cool biker dude and Bicycle Spot tire tester. (he rides 8,000 miles a year) his present tires have 2800 miles and he figures 800 more in the rear before replacing it. Not bad for a $14.00 tire.

9. What can we expect to see in the future at the Bicycle Spot?

More fixed gear bikes and parts and related products.

10. You seem to get a variety of bikes through the doors. What are your favorite kind of bicycles to work. Which ones give you the most enjoyment?

Rode bikes gave me the most satisfaction, but now making a huffy work is just as good.

11. When can we expect to see Payton at the next Gold Sprints ready to race?

As soon as i finish my side project I'm working on?
